Smooth Parameria is a large climbing shrub with milky
latex. Leaves are opposite, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, pointed to
rounded at base, entire, bluntly tapering at tip, leathery. Flowers are
borne in leaf-axils and at branch-ends, in di- or trichotomously
branched umbel-like cymes aggregated into panicles. Flowers are white,
fragrant, flat-faced with a narrow tube about 2 mm long, hairless.
Petals are 5, round, stamens 5, inserted at the base of flower tube;
filaments short; anthers more or less arrow shaped. Fruits are
follicles, paired, monilliform, 15-35 cm long, narrow. Smooth Parameria
is found in Andaman & Nicobar, Combodia, Malesia, Philippines.
Medicinal uses: All parts of Smooth Parameria
are used to treat rheumatism, nephritis, and injury.
